I'm wondering if Bitcoin mining will ever come to an end. I know there's a limited number of bitcoins that can be mined, but does that mean the mining process itself will stop completely once all the bitcoins are mined?
The mining reward for Bitcoin was initially set at 50 BTC per block.

This reward undergoes a halving process every 210,000 blocks, meaning that the amount of BTC miners receive for each block they solve is reduced by half.

As a result of this halving cycle, the total number of Bitcoins that can ever be mined is limited to 21 million.

By around the year 2140, it is projected that all Bitcoins will have been mined, and the block reward will drop to zero.

Despite the decreasing block reward, the total supply of Bitcoin will never exceed 21 million BTC.
