Can you keep Kickstarter money?

Can you really keep the money raised through Kickstarter campaigns? I've heard conflicting opinions on the matter, and I'm curious to know the definitive answer. On one hand, it seems logical that if you successfully fund your project, the money should be yours to use as intended. But on the other hand, I've heard rumors that Kickstarter might take a cut or that there are certain rules and regulations you need to follow in order to keep the funds. So, what's the truth?
