I'm writing a document and want to use the abbreviation 'ETC.'. I'm not sure if I should put a full stop after it. Some people say it's not necessary, while others argue that it's more grammatically correct to include it. What's the correct usage? Should there be a full stop after ETC.?

When concluding a sentence with the word "etc.", it is sufficient to use a single period if it is the final word.

This rule applies regardless of the content preceding "etc.", ensuring clarity and conciseness in writing.

For instance, in a list of items, if "etc." is used to indicate additional, unspecified items, a single period suffices to terminate the sentence.
